Royal Stockholm Philharmonic
Karl Frisendahl is principal trombonist in The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra since 1996. He had previously been a solo trombonist of the Danish Radio Sinfonietta.
The years 1989-94 studied Karl Frisendahl at the Royal College of Music of Sven-Erik Eriksson. The study period also included a year at the Conservatory of Music in Copenhagen with studies of Carsten Swanberg.
Frisendahl has on several occasions awarded the Royal Academy of Music Major Overseas Scholarship. These resulted in studies in the U.S. for three leading trombonists: Joseph Alessi (New York Philharmonic Orchestra), Jay Friedman (Chicago Symphony Orchestra) and Mark Lawrence (San Francisco Symphony Orchestra).
Karl Frisendahl has appeared as soloist and chamber musician both in Sweden and internationally. He also plays regularly with the Chamber Orchestra Of Europe.
Karl is a keen chamber musician and has among others played with Christian Lindberg's quartet Trombone Unit 2000
He has premiered works by composers such as Fredrik Söderberg, Kjell Perder, Björn Hallman and Paula af Malmborg Ward.
